About Me
Everything you wanted to know about me, who I am, what I do, and the whole nine yards.
Who are you?
I'm an artist, writer, and crafter who loves helping people receive more insight into their lives with astrology and tarot.
What do you do, exactly?
A lot of things. I'm an unashamed chameleon with a ton of irons in the fire. As far as this business goes, my services can be boiled down into three things: crafts, metaphysical insights, and writing.

Crafts: As the Crocheting Witch, I whip up witchy crafts to help people with their magical practice. These range from crystal holders to tarot bags and more. I either make them myself or design patterns so you can make your own.

Metaphysical insights: AKA Astrology and tarot. For a crash course in what they are and how they can work for you, scroll down to the section about Astrology and Tarot.

Writing: I’ve been writing professionally for over a decade and still offer freelance services. Tying into The Crocheting Witch, I’m taking on clients who need content for metaphysical practices, the paranormal, spirituality, UFOs, astrology, tarot, and New-Age-themed arts and crafts. However, I’ve also written for a plethora of services, including home repair, health and beauty, journalism, pop culture, and more. I’ve created blogs, books, landing pages, buyer’s guides, short stories, novels, and news articles. For more info on my writing services, contact me through my page.
Why all these services?
I have a lot to offer and I love doing it all!
How long have you been doing all this?
Writing: I've been writing since I could hold a pen, drafted my first novel at 18, and got it agented at 21. I have a BA and MA in English and have been writing professionally since 2011.
Crocheting: I was bored at Gramma's house when I was nine, so I asked her to teach me while she was working on a blanket. My gramma and my aunt both taught me different stitches and from there, it took off. I was in a fiber arts club in college and worked briefly at a yarn boutique.
Astrology and tarot: These gifts came to me when I was a tween; I did my first readings in the school hall! I just studied and did readings for myself, friends, and family until 2019 when a chance encounter thrust me into "going pro."
About The Crocheting Witch
Why do you crochet?
Besides the obvious (I love it), it gives me something to do with my hands if I'm bored or fidgety. If I'm stuck on an idea, I can pick up my crochet, do a few stitches and have an "a-ha" moment to get me back on track. It's also incredibly satisfying to turn string into a sweater, purse, bag, hat, blanket, etc.
What is crochet?
Crochet is a form of fiber arts, like knitting, where you take yarn and make something out of it. Also like knitting, you can make whatever your heart desires with it: clothes, tablecloths, blankets, you name it. Unlike knitting, you use a small hook instead of two or more needles to create your product.
What is witchcraft? And what does it have to do with crochet?
The first question seems like something you didn't think you need to ask. However, it's not all pointy hats, cauldrons, and hocus pocus. Witchcraft is a spiritual practice to align your life to your highest potential. It can be applied to any religion and you can weave anything into your practice.
Bringing us to crochet. If you're familiar with magical practice, you already know that crystals, wands, and tarot cards could use some bags to hold them. Your altar needs a covering. While you're at it, why not spice up your home with magical amulets or accessorize with magical themed bags?
Not only does crochet allow you to make these - and more - it also gives you a unique ability to set an intention while you make them. Crocheting takes time and the rhythmic way you do stitch after stitch is meditative. It's also flexible. You can use whatever colors you want, create a pattern around numerology or sacred geometry, and you can work wherever. Whether you want to whip up a crystal bag in front of your favorite show or cast a circle and chant in front of your altar, the sky's the limit.
Do you infuse your crafts with magic?
Not necessarily. I leave it to people who purchase my wares to infuse them with their own intentions, cleanse them, and bless them. Or not - I have a huge "free to be you and me" mindset if you couldn't tell already.
About Astrology & Tarot
What's the difference between astrology and tarot?
The short answer is that astrology draws insights about you using the "stars" (mainly the sun, moon, and planets in the solar system) and tarot draws insights from a deck of 78 cards.

Astrology looks at something called a star chart,. For personal readings, this chart is usually your natal chart. At the time of your birth, the universe takes a snapshot of where the planets were from the vantage point of where you were born, including what time and place you were born at. Where the planets were, and more importantly how they're playing together, can tell you what energies you have to work with and what challenges you need to overcome in this life. Astrology can also look at events, compare two charts in a relationship reading, or compare a natal or event chart of the planets today.

Tarot is the story of life told in card form. Tarot is composed of 22 major arcana cards which tell the tale of The Fool's Journey, and 56 minor arcana cards divided into 4 suits, which each have their own story. The cards pulled during a reading reflect the part of the story that your situation reflects. The reader intuits what's going on based on the card pulled.

How can astrology help me?
I don't see astrology as fate written in the stars, rather, as timings and energies you have to use through your life, or right now as certain planets are impacting your natal chart. You can use astrology to understand yourself and those you love better, get more in touch with your relationships, and even make plans for the year and prioritize your goals.
How can tarot help me?
In my experience, tarot is better for more immediate questions about life's circumstances. If you have a pressing issue, or you want general blind spots revealed to you, or even if you just want to know what's going on, tarot's the way to go.
Do I need my birth time for an astrology reading?
Not necessarily. If you don't have it, it's OK. However, I won't be able to give you your rising sign (the way you carry yourself in the world), your Midheaven (highest point in your chart revealing career and public image), or house cusps without it. We can still look at where the planets were and the aspects between them, but it won't be as accurate without the birth time.
